New couch

I went shopping in Prescott today and I certainly wasn’t looking for furniture.

It’s a beautiful 30 mile drive over the Bradshaw Mountains.

I had specific places to go and a list. Not Christmas shopping. Well, OK I did buy some cheeses to take to a Christmas dinner. Even got to sample a few while grazing/lunch at Costco.

I resisted all the hubbub and greenery at Wal-Mart for a back up heater, a bra (which I’m sure you don’t want to see) and a heavy duty electric cord.

Then Safeway for a few groceries because only they seem to carry my favorite ice cream, Haagen-Dazs crème brulee.

Yet while wheeling quickly past all the Christmas candy I remembered hearing about dark chocolate “kisses” and sure enough, so I bought several bags. I am greedy that way.

I’m really not advertising for any of these companies, they just had what I needed.

Oh yea, almost forgot about the new couch which I bought at, where else but, a thrift store.

Just the right size to fit in my RV collection of boxes, but you could only be 3 inches tall to sleep on it.

Makeover

Today Berta, Dolores and I went to Prescott, about 40 miles and one hour away. We started at Noahs, the animal rescue thrift store. Berta bought a merino wool dress for $12 with the original $115 price tag still on it. Unfortunately, so was the security tag. Dolores bought a colorful knit winter cap. I bought...

The goods

...the foam pad for $10, that's a sequin tube top by Frederick’s of Hollywood for $2 which I'm thinking of making a purse out of, and the book for $2. Score!

Next we went to the Mall. Started at Dillards where Dolores wanted to buy some makeup. She talked Berta and I into a makeover.

On the third try we found a store that had the right gadget to take the security tag off Berta’s new dress. Noahs had written a note that the dress was a donation, not stolen.

We also went to Costco, a bead store, a printer ink store and Safeway. And we actually made it home before dark.

Christmas Lights

Berta and I went to Prescott late yesterday to see Christmas lights, and go to Cosco (where yesterday’s post was photographed).

We were a little disappointed by the lack of lights, especially colors. Only a scattering of homes were decorated. I guess people have too much else on the mind.

The courthouse square was the best. We stopped at twilight on the way in, then again after dark.

I really like the way the leafless trees look like a B&W negative. Sorry for the bright yield sign, I tried to tone it down.

I don’t go out much after dark, especially when it’s cold. So this was my first outing to view Christmas lights. I don’t put them out on the RV and haven’t put up my tree yet. That will be a future blog.

I'm thinking heat

Berta & I went shopping in Prescott today. Stopped at Noah’s, an animal rescue thrift store. Then another excellent lunch at Maya’s. Our weekly treat. Also stopped at Kuel’s Salvage to look at wood stoves, which were all too big. They have so much cool metal stuff. (See November’s From A-Z post.)

For those too young to remember this is what they look like. (Not my photo.) Hot water runs through them and the water pipes usually rattle.

I bought a new little ceramic heater for my RV at Cosco. I don’t like to be cold. And neither does Carson.

Went to Prescott today with Berta to a salvage yard called Kuels, and it was cool.

If it's made of metal, they have it. If it's in good shape, it's for sale. If not, it's recycled.

Plus we went to lunch at the Mayan. I can finally chew! And it was soooo good.
