Description
I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Neither rain nor sleet nor snow......
Left the South Rim about 11am after clearing at least 10 inches of snow off the truck. And it was still snowing.
.jpg)
Park roads had been plowed.
.jpg)
20 miles out of the park the roads became clear and wet.
.jpg)
Williams looked blanketed in white where I entered the freeway.
.jpg)
Yet 30 miles down the road blue patches glowed over Ashfork.
.jpg)
The first stretch of Highway 89 the sun showed, briefly.
.jpg)
Then in Chino the storm closed in again.
.jpg)
Iron Springs Road winds through the snow speckled hills.
.jpg)
Very wet snow clung to the foliage.
.jpg)
By Skull Valley the snow turned to sleet then rain.
.jpg)
But the snow returned along the rise...
.jpg)
...before Kirkland.
.jpg)
And followed me back to Highway 89.
.jpg)
Where I could see hope the white stuff would stop as I approached Peeples Valley.
.jpg)
After 4 hours, I experienced a small reprieve when I got Home and enough time for Mike to help me unload the truck. Got a little snow here with some howling wind.

Another Storm at Grand Canyon National Park
The clouds played games most of the day providing only a few sprinkles.
.jpg)
Then last night, before I did my evening program, the crowd on the Lodge veranda was well entertained with a storm on the South Rim. Every time the lightning flashed I heard oohs and aahs like watching 4th of July fireworks. The storm moved north across the canyon and even looked like the rain may have fallen a little at Phantom Ranch down in the bottom of the canyon. Plus we got a little rain on the North Rim.
A new friend sent me this video which is so perfect for the sound of rain in Arizona.

Stormy afternoon at Grand Canyon
View east across the Marble Plateau
Took a quick drive out to Point Imperial this afternoon to take some pics for a program I’m working on. It snowed on the way there.
.jpg)
View southeast, note the smoke at bottom right
There was thunder and lightning, which I find exciting. And I saw smoke in the canyon so called it in to dispatch.
.jpg)
Yes, that’s snow and hail right outside my door.

Feel the Wind Blow
Here in Yarnell last night the wind blew with gusts at 30-35mph, along with heavy rain. The trailer was rocking, curtains billowed, windows whistled, the tarp over the front rattled, and things outside clattered. I figured the garbage can had blown to the next county. Quite a cacophony.
This morning when I finally peek out the curtains to read the thermometer, 34°, this is what I saw...

Berta and I just built that fence about two weeks ago. Guess we’ll have to try again and do it right this time.
Now it’s snowing, but not sticking.

Sky Watch Friday - Stormy Colorado
On my drive home
I lived for a summer in southwestern Colorado while working at Mesa Verde National Park. (More about that in a future My World.) During the monsoon season I learned about “intermittent” rain. The skies were always amazing as a front moved through. Please visit other

Double Rainbow
Last night’s sky during a little rain squall.
Rain fell intermittently all day.
Really brought the green back.
Made the air fresh.
Rainbow reward.

A gray stay home day - watching the birds
The afternoon sky races by
I love having bird feeders only 20 feet from my window.A bright Northern cardinal brightens the day
Though it seems even with the tri-pod I can’t zoom in enough. Of course raindrops on the window didn’t help either. I’ll have to live with it as I can’t afford to replace the camera.Scrub jay shovels seed to the ground in search of sunflower seeds
I’d better fill that feeder between the rain drops. Sure glad it’s not snow, yet.Gambel’s quail bobble in bunches
I'm thankful to be alive, right now.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
