Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

MWT - Creating a fence

After a very frosty Sunday morning with frozen hose to my RV the afternoon sun warmed enough to work outside.

Mike dug post holes for fence behind the little house to create an enclosure for plants and an exclosure to the javelina and deer.

The posts are some wood Berta and I got for free at a yard sale and the rest, so far, is trimmings off oak on the property.

I held while Mike lashed the pieces on. I love the curves of the wood, and the shadows.

Mike makes awesome wood furniture with two of his brothers and I will post some of that soon.

Hey, this is my 400th post!

Fixing the Fence

Gaelyn & Berta building the first fence
You may remember a couple months ago when Berta & I had great fun building a fence out of really cool slab wood.

The first fence

You may also remember how a big wind blew down the same fence. We really didn’t build it the right way.

Blown down fence
Well, last weekend, Berta and a friend, braved cold weather putting new fence posts in.

They almost finished the job, but the snow drove them inside.

Snowy day
Today the sun came out and they finished the fence.

At least one side. There will be a similar fence on the other side of the driveway.

Feel the Wind Blow

Here in Yarnell last night the wind blew with gusts at 30-35mph, along with heavy rain. The trailer was rocking, curtains billowed, windows whistled, the tarp over the front rattled, and things outside clattered. I figured the garbage can had blown to the next county. Quite a cacophony.

This morning when I finally peek out the curtains to read the thermometer, 34°, this is what I saw...

Berta and I just built that fence about two weeks ago. Guess we’ll have to try again and do it right this time.

Now it’s snowing, but not sticking.

Building a fence

Last month Berta bought 700 pieces of irregular slab wood, cut on one side and naturally curved on the other. It’s beetle-kill pine so the bark fell off by itself and there’s awesome worm trails that look like hieroglyphics.

So, we’re building a fence. Actually there’s already a small fence so we’re just adding to it.

That's Berta

Had fun picking the lengths and putting them in the desired order. Then took turns on each side of the fence screwing on the boards.

Ran out of screws and then out of light.

I like it!
