The work begins. Have found a place for Mom to live in Arizona only 30 miles from my winter home called My Father’s Retirement Ranch. We are shooting for a move in on April 21st. So much to do before that: airline tickets for us both to AZ and then me back to retrieve my truck/camper, rental cars on each end, getting a mover, selling Mom’s big Lincoln, putting her mobile on the market, hiring someone to clean up the remaining yardsale stuff and clean the house, and packing boxes. Anybody need a job?

Wow!! that is a huge job. I hope you get someone to help you. AND I hope Mom is going to be happy. MB
So much work involved. I feel for you, I've been emptying out a house myself.

Wow what a task you have in front of you. Glad that your Mom will be nearby in AZ - that is so important as we all age. Twelve or so years ago my sister and I moved an aunt from NYC to FLA, doing it much as you describe except we had to sell an apt she had lived in for 40 years. MFRV looks awesome and I hope your mother is happy there.
That does sound like a lot of work and traveling. At least once you're finished your mom will close by and you can check on her often.
So much to accomplish, but I know you'll get it all done. What a beautiful Grandfather's Clock - hope you can keep it.
I've just returned from the heat in the Sonoran desert..I see from your profile you also hideout in Arizona for the winter!!
The pic of RV is similar to brother and sis in laws..best of luck in all that has to be done.
You have a lot of work ahead of you!
Oh wow, I'm so glad you have found a place for her nearby. It's an epic job, isn't it? I'll be thinking of you.
Oh, I am exhausted just reading all that is ahead of you but at least she will be close now and it will be easier for you to keep an eye on things.
On top of it all, the season starts on the 15th.
Sounds like a lot of work to be done, but I am glad you found a nice place for your Mom.
Yes! But I need a job in Idaho. :( It's great that you found a place for your Mum to live near you - that must be quite exciting, to be able to see her more frequently!
Wow, a big job ahead of you, but once you get your mom moved it will make things easier for both of you. I hope everything goes smoothly. I know it will be hard for your mom to leave a place she's lived at for so long. It was good that you were able to drive around a bit and enjoy the beach and memories.
wow..if my dad was feeling better I would love to help you! My father's ranch is about 15 minutes from us...you made a good choice!
Oh boy! No way thank you.
I really should pack up our beautiful home on the mountain and sell it but cannot raise the energy to even start thinking about that.
I would not want to be in your shoes for the world. Thank goodness you have a renewed energy and someone to share your cares with. You really have blossomed with love in your life and i am so very happy for you.
This post neatly answers that niggling question that accompanied me on my travels, i/e/ how you were getting along with solving the problems revolving around an ageing parent. I am so glad you sound so full of energy and have accomplished so much already.
All the best with the rest , , , Arija
My sister is at my mom's helping to paint so my mom can sell her place, too. I know at some point I'll be making a trip to the Valley to help pack and move her.
I feel for you. This is going to be lots of effort, but its for the better.
That is a big undertaking! Wishing you all the best, hoping that things move along quickly and smoothly.
Wow Gaelyn, you sure have been busy! I am so glad your mom has agreed to move closer to you. We keep trying to get my in-laws to move or at least come and visit AZ in the winters but they won't budge. They are tried and true Mainers and would rather live and die there!
