I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Bugging at Dinosaur Park South Africa

01 Evolution of life Dinosaur Park ZA (366x800)

Evolution of Life

After Joan and I toured Sudwala Cave we wandered right next door to see dinosaurs.

02 Caterpillar Dinosaur Park ZA (600x800)

What is it Joan?

But we spent more time looking at the variety of amazing bugs.

03 Stegosaurus Dinosaur Park ZA (800x600)

Of course, the dinos aren’t real. And I’m really glad as this two ton Stegosaurus might have run us over in pursuit vegetation…

04 Grasshopper Dinosaur Park ZA (600x800)

Look out grasshopper

…where the bugs were hiding.

05 Joan photographing bugs Dinosaur Park ZA (800x600)

Joan is so amazing at finding the littlest of life. Maybe that’s because she crawls around in the plants. And even with a clumsy Uintatherium looking on.

06 Mastodon & Smilodons Dinosaur Park ZA (800x638)

Two Smilodon and a mastodon

But you have to be careful what you find along the trail.

07 Early hominid Dinosaur Park ZA (581x800)

Wonder if these folks were out hunting or looking for bugs too.

08 Spider Dinosaur Park ZA (800x600)

If you want to know the specific names of these bugs you’ll have to ask Joan. After all, she’s the bug lady.

09 Dragonfly Dinosaur Park ZA (800x697)

We waded into the swamps for some captures.

10 Diplodocus & reflection Dinosaur Park ZA (600x800)

Diplodocus

Watch out Joan! Good thing this is another vegetarian.

11 Live crocodile Dinosaur Park ZA (800x600)

Crocodile

But this one isn’t, and it’s alive.

12 Ant laying eggs Dinosaur Park ZA (800x599)

Ant laying eggs

Better get back to bugs.

No Neanderthals? I like bugs and humanoids but I also like our first cousins, the Neanderthals.

LOL

LOL!! This must be a conspiracy!! Both you and Anne have posted pictures of me which you were not supposed to!! LOL!!

What a wonderful post Gaelyn. You did a great job on showing us the dinosaur park and the bugs we found there. As far as I can gather, that is a Monarch butterfly pupating.

We were without electricity yesterday afternoon and evening so I am a bit late getting around to the blogs.

I bet kids love this place, both for the bugs and the fake dinos. They have bugs I've never seen before.

Gaelyn sure wish we could send all that spam to the bugs! What fun you had here!

Dinosaurs! Love 'em. I'd have loved to have visited this place, too. Until then, I have enjoyed your photos!

Sudwala and the Dino park is another of the places I haven't been to. Trust Joan to take you to a dino park and go hunting the tiniest bugs inbetween the gigantic dino's.

My son would have loved this park when he was a little boy--oh, wait, he would still love it. He's never got over his love of dinosaurs, and he's been a fan since before it was cool. I like the combination of the dinos and the bugs--thank God those bugs are a bit smaller.
