I actually took this last Friday while roving on the Grand Canyon Lodge’s veranda before an evening program.
Hope you'll enlarge it. I just couldn't crop it.
Visitors come into the visitor center all day asking where the best place is for sunset. Some want to drive 23 curvy miles out to Cape Royal and back, walk the .25 mile ridge trail to Bright Angel Point, or hike along the Transept Trail with its western view. At the end of a long day, if I was a visitor, you’d find me in a comfortable chair with a glass of wine.

I like the framing of this one! Wish I could have seen this sunset. Ha, the security word is "stood". Yes, wish I coulda' stood there.
Now THAT is a good idea at the end of the day Gaelyn. Guess what we are going to do in Kruger? :)To top it all we will have the sound of the lions and hyaenas too. :) Yippeeee!! Can't wait for it.
a fab capture gaelyn...love all the colors and the lighting is perfect :)
yep...i was away for a few days to the place of my birth :) even managed to drive by the old house which of course is no longer beautiful and groomed.
I'll drink to that! Especially with that view...can I join you?
Yes, I would be content to just sit at the lodge's veranda taking in the awesomeness of the sunset. It doesn't need to be any more beautiful than that!
DEFINITELY worth the enlarging! Beautiful!
I like the way you framed this photo. Lovely!
Gaelyn, can I plop down next to you and share that wine? I love your view!
Oh wow, I just want to get in the car and drive to the Grand Canyon. What an amazing photo with the rays spreading out over the canyon. Truly awesome!
Fantastic shot! I love the way you've framed it! The colors are breathtaking!
Have a great weekend, Gaelyn!
Sunsets here never disappoint, do they? Nice use of the "natural frame", and love your philosophy. I'll be out your way in a few weeks... maybe I'll run into you.
Cheers!
Great shot Gaelyn, looks even better when enlarged.
Have a great weekend

Just amazes me each time the vastness and colours.
I always thought sunsets over water were the most spectacular, but your Grand Canyon ones are equally so. The view from that verandah looks very inviting indeed!
I'm with you. Is there really a "best" place when all the possibilities are wonderful?
is a big expanse of sky. Love it! MB
Beautiful!! Looks like a great place to be.
We met one of your "counterparts" in Yellowstone-a single, full-time RV woman. She took us on a photo safari that was well worth the time. The pics will be up eventually.
An amazing photo. The beauty of the Grand Canyon is worth experiencing one in your life.
Oh, my! That is breathtaking!!
