Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

SSS2–Century plant

01 Dead century plant stalk & shadow Weaver Mts Yarnell AZ (876x1024)
The misnamed Parry’s century plant, or Agavi parryi, actually  grows for about 25-30 years before producing a 10-18 foot flower stalk that shoots forth at sometimes one foot per day, then dies.  Yet it lives on by propagating itself with offshoots called pups.

SWF- Black Mountains

01 Black Mts NE from Lake Mead NRA Colorado R frontage road N of Bullhead City AZ (1024x372)

On the way to Laughlin, Nevada--not to gamble--ambled along a Colorado River frontage road just north of Bullhead City, Arizona and remembered to look away from the river for a panoramic view of the Black Mountains and sky above.  (Post coming soon about this journey.)

Thrifty Thursday-A true collector

My dear friend Berta is a second-hand shopper extraordinaire.  Last week I shared a few views of her yard and promised I’d tour the inside of her house as well.
01 Blue, red & purple glass over sink Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (1024x543)
Berta likes color and glass.  And what better way to show both off but in a window.  This colorful collection sits above the kitchen sink.
02 Fireplace & stuff Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (577x1024)
The fireplace was closed off years ago (I like the multi-colored brick).  I think everything in this shot was bought at a thrift store or yard sale.
03 Ladies corner Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (1024x609)
I call this the “ladies corner” and the only thing purchased new is the window frame with dried flowers bought at a craft show.
04 Bird cage display Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (577x1024)
Berta can tell you exactly where each wonderful treasure came from, even where the yard sale was.
05 Reflective corner Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (561x1024)
And I just love how she displays her treasures.
06 Blue bathroom window Berta's house Yarnell AZ phone (577x1024)
Even her bathroom window is delightful.

I sure hope to get out to do some thrift shopping soon.  What treasures have you discovered?  Join in by linking below.

My dear friend Berta is recovering from a shoulder replacement.  So if you notice any dust, please know we call it “velvet,” and live with it.

SSS2-Ladder shadow

01 View out back window with shadow & crystals Yarnell AZ (1024x768)

Not sure how secure that shadow ladder would be to climb.  The middle crystal created a nice shadow in this post.

Celebrate International Women’s Day  today.  “In 1910 the second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. A woman named Clara Zetkin a (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women's Day. She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day - a Women's Day - to press for their demands. The conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, representing unions, socialist parties, working women's clubs, and including the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament, greeted Zetkin's suggestion with unanimous approval and thus International Women's Day was the result.”
Many women have influenced my life.  My dear friend Berta being just one.  Today she is having shoulder surgery so please keep her in your thoughts.  Thanks.

Remember Whensday - Do you own a skort?

Summer 1970
Oh yes the skort is back, shorts with a flap in the front for the uninitiated. Keep any item of clothing long enough and it Will come back into fashion. I didn’t keep my skort. Oh well.

BTW, I’m moving out of the little house and back into the 5th-wheel all clean and shinny looking inside and it won’t roll from here until the end of April when I return to the canyon. However, as soon as all the stuff is moved, within the next couple of days, I can feel a road trip coming with the truck camper. Maybe southern Arizona where it’s just a little bit warmer.

Remember Whensday - Hitch 'em up

Aren’t you glad you don’t have to hitch up the team to go to town?

I actually took this photo last year while visiting a friend that collects the coolest stuff.

Remember Whensday - Baseball Mama 1956

The only thing I remember from this scene is the baby buggy. I played with it for many years pushing dollies around, babies, Barbies and trolls.
Yet it’s so me, and I still hold my hands like that. Hmmm....
