I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

SWF – A venue for kettling

01 Turkey vultures kettling over carrion SH90W TX

Turkey vultures are masters at soaring flight. Along a lonely western Texas highway I saw a venue of turkey vultures kettling over some road kill. Their keen sense of smell draws them in to the carrion.

02 Feathery clouds over SH90W TX

Further down the road a whole other look at feathers in the sky.

A group of vultures is called a venue and the circling in the sky is kettling.

A beautiful sky, another plus for Texas (in addition to the birds). The spring wildflowers can be lovely but I think I will forever be influenced by my first view of Texas, a drive across the state in August.

Hi Gaelyn, nice clouds, as I always associate Texas with.

Been there only once, and I hope to visit again.

gorgeous cloud photo.
I have been told that Turkey Vultures are known as the bird of peace because they do not kill for food.

It seems like driving through places like Texas you really get to see miles and miles of nothing.
