Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

On my way Home

01 Not much left San Benito TX

Nothing much left at Mom’s house except the mess, which someone else gets to clean up. The sale was Very successful. Most of the furniture sold on Friday and we dollared them to death on Saturday. There wasn’t enough left to open on Sunday so Auntie Kay and I went to breakfast.

02 U-Haul & truck camper San Benito TX

Monday morning, after an oil change for the truck, I picked up the 6x12’ U-Haul trailer. Then with much help loaded what I’m taking to Arizona, some to Mom and some for me.

03 Fancy ranch gate along SH44 W TX (1024x768)

Tuesday morning I hit the road north through some pretty desolate oil and ranch country. Sure are a lot of fancy gates into these vast landscapes.

04 Sunset Hidden Valley RV Park Del Rio TX

Made it 375 miles to a Del Rio, Texas RV Park. Hoping to get to Van Horn today. Takes SO long to get out of Texas.

I remember thinking that when we drove through Texas - we were actually driving home to Montreal from Arizona - Texas just goes on forever.

I bet you have many sighs of relief now. On to unpacking and then to your HOME SWEET HOME. It will end......MB

When we lived in south Texas, we said it took a whole day to get out of Texas, no matter which direction you took. (well, of course unless you went south). Can't wait to see you, girl!

You've spent a lot more time in Texas than you had planned, I'm sure it will be a relief to get back to Arizona. Have a safe trip.

Reminds me of driving through the sahara desert except you have a bit more vegetation there! Drive carefully. Diane

Almost done! You are very close to journey's end. What a relief it will be for you to get back home and on your way to the Canyon. Being there will bring some much needed peace to your soul.

I'm always astonished at the amount of effort, artistry, and money put into those gates. (And sometimes at the lack thereof.) I guess if you raise a lot of cattle, you need a big gate for the cattle trucks to see.
Good luck driving back to Arizona! :) Texas has to end sometime...

Surprising isn't it, 'cause Texas is soooo big.

I'm glad that is over for you, quite a wrench and a great deal of work as well. Hats off to you brave girl!

Hi Gail, nice to see your still on the trail, We went thru Texas in 62 to see you and the family in Ill. and did this route too, (only without the interstate) going the other way. And yes Texas east to west is a long way of open country. Keep Trucking kid.
