Auntie’s Beads

Last year in November I received an email from Auntie’s Beads inviting me to spend a $25 gift certificate. I kind of forgot about it. Then Christmas came around and I made several pairs of earvines for gifts, plus some to put in Mike’s Mom’s store, and a pair for FabGrandma’s auction for the Oral Cancer Foundation. Then I went to make myself a pair only to discover I didn’t have enough of the 2mm sterling silver beads I like to use as spacers on the earvines.

So last week I spent the gift certificate at Auntie’s Beads. Prices are competitive, service was prompt, and I got a free gift of two 18mm faceted beads.

Now I have no excuse, I need to get busy making that pair of earvines.

And while I’m at it, shamelessly promote myself. Earvines sell for $25 including shipping in the US. I use sterling silver wire and have a wide variety of glass and gemstone beads.

12 for 10 Auction for Oral Cancer Awareness

I have friends that are survivors of oral cancer. My dear sweet life mentor Darlene is a survivor. Friend, co-worker and fellow blogger FabGrandma’s husband is also a survivor, 10 years in fact. And to celebrate this she is running an auction to raise awareness of oral cancer with the money donated to The Oral Cancer Foundation.

Creative Time

Been so busy blogging this winter I’ve neglected another of my creative outlets/distractions, making jewelry. Although up and down-loading on dial-up does provide a bit of time to multi-task I really prefer to get into the now of creating. Plus, I wanted a couple new pairs of earvines to match necklaces I made in the past. And, because I tend to give them away, my back stock had gotten very low. That’s plenty of reasons.

Before leaving for Texas I put together a travel package of beads, wire and tools. Then was reminded that the tools couldn’t go in my carry-on luggage, all I was taking. So, left it behind. I’m no terrorist, (really), yet I think a pen and pencil are more dangerous in the right hands than my 4inch pliers. More rules.
