GoGirl Update

Remember the GoGirl, don’t take life sitting down? The company posted my letter (see post) so I got a second GoGirl free plus a T-shirt.

As recommended, I tried the funnel out first in the shower. A no brainer of course that worked. Next the toilet, where I still had to drop my jeans to my knees. My aim is pretty good but I haven’t tried to write my name yet. Good thing I usually hike in a skirt.

Preparing for travel

Just call me a computer geek. Not really, but I did finally figure out how to get the music files from old laptop to new netbook. I always have to repeat the steps several times in a row to remember. One more thing done in preparation for leaving for South Africa.

Tomorrow a friend is helping me sew together a money belt. She has the sewing machine and skills I just have ideas. I looked at the money belts available online, no luck in local stores go figure, but didn’t care for the choice of materials. Did find one silk bag yet even it had nylon webbing and plastic clips for the belt. No thanks makes me sweat and itch. Instead I bought a silk dress at a thrift for fabric and Velcro to keep the pockets shut. If it works well I may have to patent the idea to pay for the next trip.

My GoGirl arrived and all I can say so far is that it works in the shower, not too surprising. I’ll continue field testing and report soon.

I’m learning to post on Windows Live Writer instead of my old copy and paste method from Word. It’s really pretty nice and easy to insert pics or whatever wherever. Should keep me blogging while traveling, when I find WIFI.

I can’t squat without peeing on my feet and have wanted one of these for years. So I finally ordered it. IT is a Female Urination Device (FUD), or for the uninitiated a funnel, which comes in either pink or camouflage brown stored in a re-usable tube. No prejudice here. This handy little GoGirl beauty is made from flexible medical grade silicone and is rinseable and reusable. I don’t want to be a Man but have always envied their ability to pee almost anywhere without having to expose their entire lower half. I quite frequently hike wearing a mid-calf length skirt and often find myself with nowhere to hide. When traveling I’ve seen too many icky, dirty toilets, sometimes with no seat, to crouch over while my legs cramp. And I’ve made a few emergency side-of-the-road stops trying to hide in a ditch or hang cheeks over a fallen log. But no more. “Because life’s greatest adventure shouldn’t be finding a bathroom” says GoGirl, and I agree.

This handy little FUD will be going with me to South Africa for the month of March. I can see where it may come in handy while on safari at Kruger National Park, hiking in the Drakenberg Mountains or anywhere out in the bush veldt.

I first read about the GoGirl on RuthieJ’s blog Nature Knitter. Please don't think I'm endorsing this company, yet. I'll have to let you know if this thing really works. I did send the company a letter similar to this post and if they use it I could win a free GoGirl and T-shirt.
