I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

SWF – A round about way for groceries

01 Sunset at Lake Powell & Navajo Mt UT (1024x768)

On the way to go grocery shopping in Page, Arizona Mike and I hiked the Toadstools trail in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and camped at Lone Rock Beach in Utah.

02 Sunset at Lake Powell & Navajo Mt UT (1024x763)

That’s about 140 miles one way along the northern route.

03 Sunset at Lake Powell & Navajo Mt UT (1024x767)

Lone Rock Beach is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

04 California Condors above Navajo Bridge Hwy 89A N AZ (1024x768)

The 130 mile return home after shopping the next day along the southern route takes us across Navajo Bridge where we saw California Condors.

Taking the scenic route shopping is one thing but you have a huge distance to travel. Diane

I bet it was worth every mile. The Grand Staircase is on my list.

Sounds like a great lifestyle. I should try it more. I will be checking in from time to time to see what your up to. I'm only a state away. (Cache Valley, Utah)

Wow, Gaelyn! My shopping trips are really boring compared to that!

I didn't know the condors were there.

You can charge people for taking that route to the grocery store. What pretty sights.

Hi Gaelyn, You know I love the Escalante Wilderness - we hope to hike there again this fall as we did last. Your water sunset at Glen Canyon really captured the purple glow on the rock.

My guess is that that would make my husband a lot more efficient about shopping than our 1½ mile trip.

A wonderful trip to the store, - I am quite in love with that gorgeous lavender mountain.

I am always up for taking the long way around. the colors here are just gorgeous. Nice shots all, oh and to see the Cal. Condors--amazing.

BTW--I really am not one to rake and if you look close at that pic you can see leaves from the year before. Leaves are great mulch. I know you know that!!! LOL MB

When you say beach I take it its part of a lake and not the ocean. You shopping trips are always interesting ones. Much more exciting than sitting in traffic on the way to a shopping centre somewhere.

That was some detour but well worth it I would think. :)

Now that's a view I do not have when I go to the grocery store. I envy your shopping trips!
