I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

MWT – Horseshoe Bend Colorado River

In an effort to view the entire curve I laid on my belly with the camera poised over the edge viewing 1000 feet down to the Colorado River's Horseshoe Bend which you can see here.

If only one had wings---so true.
Imagine the view the birds have.
The water does look inviting and it is wayyyyyy down there. MB

With all my travels through the southwest, I've never been to Horseshoe Bend. Great photos, and I love the bird in mid-hop (it looks like).

My heart is still pounding from watching you stand on the edge like that! Although it was a beautiful sight to see, you against that back drop.
Lets do it again!!!

what gorgeous photos! The one time Jim and I tried to hike there, a huge thunderstorm was coming in. We turned back to avoid getting struck by lightening. Now you have made me want to go and try again.

Wow, stunning pictures! Love the red earth and green water. That was a great idea to stop at Horeshoe Bend. :)

I have always said I want to come back into this world as a Perigrine Falcon, this just makes me even more sure that is what I want to be. All the photos are amazing but Horse Shoe Bend is something else. Diane

What heartstopping beauty and grandeur, Gaelyn. Wow, I just had to look again and again. Mike could have you on a harness when you venture out onto precarious places. I used to have John on one when shopping as he always wanted to go ahead and see around the next corner. (Still like that, I think!) Have a wonderful day. Hugs Jo

The water looks so green in the bend of the river. Sure would be fun to swoop down over the water and enjoy dipping one's wings.

Absolutely gorgeous! The color of the water is breathtaking! I've been there, I've seen, but it never fails to blow my mind! Your photos are superb as always, Gaelyn! Glad Mike was there to keep a hold of you!! Have a great week!

Oh my gosh. That is beautiful. The green river against the brown landscape is very striking and horse shoe bends are always beautiful from above.

Gaelyn: All I can say is WOW, I would have filled the disc with photos. That is really a special place and I've never seen it before.

You lived to tell the tale, but that looks like an incredibly dangerous perch on the edge of that precipice. Might I suggest that a few feet back or laying on your belly wouldn't have made much of a difference in the shot? Your friends want you to stay alive, Gaelyn.

WOW. Gorgeous photos of a place I'll never visit in person, making my tag along so special.

Thank you.

Lovely photos of a gorgeous place, but I have to go along with Mike--you were way too close to that edge. My hubby would have been in the same place as you though and thought nothing of it.

I've been catching up on your posts. Looks like you've been having a good time, and what incredible views.

Whoa. My tummy did a little flipper flopper thing with some of those photos! AMAZING, Gaelyn. Yeah, you were just a wee bit too close to the edge! LOL!

Ooops - must have forgotten to comment. Must have been the stunning views that distracted me.
