I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Remember Whensday - College Days

1991-92 Western Washington University, Huxley College of Environmental Studies, Bellingham Washington

Yea that’s me. Never was sure how this happened. Maybe just old fashioned photography
I returned to college as an older student after my kids were grown. Finding a place to live was a nightmare. After declining several shared big houses with too many young men I found another grown woman to live with in a tiny one bedroom apartment only three blocks walk from campus. She gave me the walk-in closet sized bedroom and slept in the living room.

When I needed space I would go to Larabee Park to enjoy birds on the water.

Or head to Mount Baker hot springs.

Sally from The (Mis) Adventures of Karl and Sally has started a new meme where the past is remembered through sharing old family photographs and this is #18. I love the idea and hope you will too. So join the fun by clicking here.

That's a neat photograph on top..with a wonderful story. The two shots below are beautiful and look like a great retreat. Your header is beautiful as well- I kind of remember you too. Anyway, my best to you-

Your photography is wonderful.

Gorgeous photos, the first one looks like a planned slide montage. So cool that it just happened like that.

Cool pictures but an even better story. I wanted to hear more!

I also went to college as an older student, only I went at night, when my kids were teens in high school. We often studied together, and I think that me being a student impressed them.

I love that photo of you, wonder how that did happen?

I love that first shot with the ghostly-looking you.
That lake looks like a beautiful place to enjoy nature and space.

I Love learning and I think we truly do every day. I love all your adventures and your photo's. Blessings to you and yours. Love and Light, Nina P

They are all great photos - the first one is FANTASTIC! As usual, your outdoor photos are great - the places look so beautiful. They look like great places to go to take a breather!

I do like that first shot Gaelyn. Very unusual. Ah yes, those were tough but good old days weren't they?

Great story - you must have been desperate for space after living in such a tiny room. That first shot is wonderful!

Super shots.

You asked about the Eagles--well we have lots of resident Eagles--if fact a pair in our woods--but they do start arriving late October to March from the far north. While Rockport boasts of the many living on the Upper Skagit we have tons here on the Lower Skagit and Padilla Bay and the Samish River. Enough room for everyone. MB

The first shot is so dreamy - the effect is lovely, even if unintentional. This is a wonderful story, Gaelyn. Living the college experience twice must have been some kind of fun, eh? Lovely photos!

Great pictures.
When I was a kid going to college I hated the older folks. They were such suckups.
When I was a old guy going to college the young folks puzzled me. "What are they doing? Why are they even here?"

What's the deal?

I too like the 'ghost' in #1. If you aren't acquainted with the photographer Duane Michals, Google him, for some of his shots are like this.

There is something very Virginia Woolf about that first shot!

What a neat shot. It must be a challenge to go back as an older student. I can't imagine living in a dorm ......Michelle

I love that first photo. I always thought it was so fun to end up with accidental shots like that from film. It looks like the shutter remained open during movement -not sure though.
