Sky Watch Friday - The Sky is Falling into Grand Canyon

Storm over Dog Point
When I was out fossil hunting last week (I know, still haven’t posted the fossils but I’m working on it) the sky changed so rapidly I could barely keep up taking photos. This is what it looked like when I arrived at my camp spot overlooking North Canyon, one of many side canyons, this one out of the park but still part of the Grand Canyon.
To see more skies from around the world go to Sky Watch Friday by clicking here.

Gaely,
NOW I understand your question to be an AIR more fully, because you are a park ranger! I have great respect for your occupation, because I've seen the ones at Yosemite!
I visited the Grand Canyon a couple of times in my time before I did any painting. Maybe I should go back and paint there!
Hope to see your fossils soon. I love everything that shows the history of things.

It does look like the canyon in trying to swallow the clouds. Great capture!

The sky does look low over the canyon.
I look forward to your fossils. I've seen a lot of them, but I don't know how to identify them.

I love how the clouds are pointing down while the trees are pointing up!

Hope you didn't get rained on, Gaelyn! Is it hot there just now?

Jeannette: You will find a LOT of inspitatio in this area. The colors of the mountains are like nowhere else on earth.

We had a day like this too ast week Gaelyn, one minute it was sunny and ovely and within half an hour it was cloudy, windy and freezing cold. :)

It es look like the cloud wants to pour into the canyon. I'm sure the desert would appreciate the moisture.

Marvelous shot, Gaelyn! I agree with Martha, it looks like the cloud is trying to pour into the canyon.
Have a great weekend!

Looks way too much like the makins of a funnel cloud. However it is a great capture and what a great place to camp. Thanks for sharing Gaelyn and have a wonderful weekend.

My partner, the former paleontologist turned artist has a thing about is it trilobites. We have several in the house. Don't have such a beautiful view though as this.

Lol, this reminded me of a character in a British TV series whose catch phrase was 'Don't panic!' as he, obviously, proceeded to panic. Fantastic photo!

It dose look like a vortex in the sky...
but is the sky being drawn into the Grand Canyon
or is the Grand Canyon being sucked up into the grand sky, hmmm?

Really a stunning capture! I love the way the clouds appear to be sinking into the canyon... almost a mammatus cloud shaped scud. Fascinating.

I love this! I had a similar sky here once, but it was at sunset and all grey and pink. I love that I might see one again because you had one.
