Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Windmills

01 Windmill in front of the Weaver Mts from Iron Springs Rd S Kirkland AZ (1024x554)
Long ago someone came up with the idea of using wind to make power. I really like that idea although it may not be practical for me to carry a windmill...

Hi Gaelyn, I think the windmills are a great idea. But, I am kind of torn when they put them in areas where it is a known migration route for the birds.

They do make a small windmill for RV's, but you have to take it down every time you travel. I like to take pics of the old fashioned windmills.

I do like the old-fashioned style of windmill over the more modern giant ones that dot the landscape in some areas. The best part of windmills is that there is an endless amount of wind, although we don't get enough wind here in Fairbanks to make them a reliable source of energy.

I think the little stock tank windmills are cool. The big old giant wind turbines are an eyesore.

Most of the few farmers and ranchers of my acquaintance have switched over to solar powered pumps. Lots less maintenance they tell me.

I am mesmerized by windmills - old and new. Perhaps it's because I grew up in the land of wind - Wyoming - and am unsettled whenever the wind blows hard. I understand (am driven crazy) by its power. I do believe I am intrigued by windmills though because it harnesses the wind's power and cheerfully laughs at it as it twirls around and creates something the wind hadn't intended - something amazing - from it.

I've seen some gigantic fields of windmills in southern Wyoming. Salt Lake City gets some of its power from them.
True, they've been around for a long time. A wind-powered well filled a water tank for my ponies when I was a kid.

I have several friends who have wind generators on their RVs. They make a lot of electricity, but they are kind of noisy....

These windmills (or windpumps like we call them) is also a signature site in our rural areas, specially in drier areas. They make for nice subjects in landscape pics.

maybe you could just hold some pinwheels out your window as you drive down the highway...=o)

Isn't that a windmill to pump water?

You actually make it appear so easy along with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be actually one thing which I think I would by no means understand. It kind of feels too complicated and extremely wide for me. I'm taking a look forward for your subsequent put up, I will try to get the hold of it!
