I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

More new neighbors

01 Long-billed curlews San Benito TX (1024x767)

Not feeling up to snuff today so came home early from Mom’s and found these two long-billed curlews in my front yard.

02 Long-billed curlew San Benito TX (1024x757)

Guess they’re pretty common here. It’s a new lifer for me.

The birdsong here is heavenly I just can’t see them all.

I saw these in California and they were life birds for me too. They are interesting to watch as they look for food. I didn't manage to get this close to them though.

Neat birds. I have never seen one---that I know of. My daughter in Ritzville has taken several pics of them just to show me. Very cool. MB

Beautiful birds, Gaelyn. I love the curved bills. Your photos are super, especially the second one. Are you in a hired house while visiting your mum in a nursing home? Sorry, I lost track somewhere about this last year when your dad passed away. Blessings and (((hugs))) Jo

I suppose I should understand the need for such a beak but it beats me. My imagination doesn't find the answer.

Wow! Those are beautiful birds! I've never seen them before, except in bird books. Lovely coloration ... and those beaks!

I've seen curlews at the Ouray Wildlife Refuge in spring. They must be just passing through. The curved beaks are impressive.

They look like a cross between our plowers and ibis. Interesting looking.
