Scenic Sunday – Light & Shadows Grand Canyon

01 Morning light & clouds over canyon from Lodge veranda NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x755)

Saturday morning I saw the canyon in yet another mood.

02 Morning light over canyon & temples from Lodge veranda NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x747)

Even though heavy clouds hung over the horizon morning sunlight found its way to light up the canyon walls and temples.

03 Morning light over Brightr Angel Canyon from Lodge veranda NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x738)

The air was crisp and clearer than I’ve seen in quite a while. Feels like Fall is coming on.

04 Morning over canyon from Lodge NR GRCA NP AZ - Copy (1024x954)

A shaft of light highlighted the tip of Angels Gate.

Your last photo - tip of Angel's Gate - is surreal. Wish I were there to see it! Lovely, Gaelyn.

Spectacular, definitely a different mood. Fall is certainly on its way at the higher elevations.

It's the layer of colors in the rocks that I just love....

All beautiful captures and that last one... not sure how to explain that. Thanks for sharing these.

Nature is being kind to you this summer. You're pictures this year are breathtaking. When I have visited the canyon it was alway hazy.

You're South Africa photos astound me. I didn't realize it was so beautiful there.

The layers of colours are so beautiful - in the sky and the canyon!

Agree 100% with first commenter. I want to be THERE.

I especially like the last photo Gaelyn although the extreme dark clouds in the first one makes it look very dramatic.

The Canyon does seem to have so many different moods and feelings. It must be hard to believe that Fall is coming to you. Spring is starting to be visible all over the show down here.

I can't imagine ever tiring of this view. With Mother Nature painter her sky differently every day, so the canyon changes... Beautiful captures.

All shots are excellent but that first one is amazing.

May I borrow it for my desktop? MB
