Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

SWF - Sun setting on the Drakensburg Mountains South Africa

01 Mt view from Monks Cowl camp Drakensburg KwaZulu-Natal ZA (800x600)

Mountains tend to make their own weather. And during my stay in the Drakensburgs I saw these gorgeous green mountains turn from golden sun lit to drenched in life giving rain and back within about five minutes.

02 Sunset from Monks Cowl camp Drakensburg KwaZulu-Natal ZA (800x600)

These shots were taken about 30 minutes apart from Monks Cowl camp. Then it rained all night.

The next day I went hiking into the Drakensburgs with the son of Jo from memorable meanders which I’ll try to post about soon.

Not only do mountains create their own weather.....people also create the weather patterns they circulate themselves through.

Greetings Gaelyn from the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah National Park.

Amazing skies above those peaks...rapidly changing mountain weather is always mysterious and can really surprise you at times! The Sierra Nevada Range in California really can do just that! And, wow, how photogenic it can be, too. The silhouettes of these African mountains are beautiful in the sky light!

Lovely photos (as usual) and I do hope you will be getting past the snow soon, else you will have to just return to the Drakies for some warmth (lol).

I have a lot of problems keeping up with the sky around here. LOL

I don't know what I would do if I had skies from Africa.

The Wheel Bug is the advanced look. His cousin is more common and people don't pay them much mind, but they do the same bite and sometimes that lasts for months.

Great shots of beautiful mountains. I've seen how mountains make their own weather many times, as I can see a 14,000 foot mountain from my house.

Those mountains can get mighty moody. Reminds me of here sometimes. Gorgeous shots.

Beautiful skies and rugged mountains, two of my favorite things. It'll be interesting to read about your hike.

The mountain is almost shaped like a heart!

Lovely clouds floating up there!

It rained here all last night, preceded by gorgeous evening light, but no beautiful mountains like the ones you've shown.

I haven't been to the Drakensburg since I was in school, but we are heading there in December for 10 days of camping. I can't wait.

Beautiful, demanding, often dangerous, but how wonderful are the mountains and their weather.

Dear Gaelyn, I enjoyed coming to your blog again very much! Your skywatch pictures of South Africa are wonderful, also the German pictures. But the pictures of the Weaver are most exciting to me!
Have a nice weekend!
