Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Testing the new Netbook

I actually read the user’s manual. Well most of it anyway. Today returned to Prescott for the needed USB external dialup modem and got this sweet little thang working online. Have been exploring what software is available, without the 60 day trial. I usually write my posts up on Word before copy and paste to blogspot. That’s trial software. So am using Works. And it won’t let me paste. So now I’m trying Live Writer. I guess that’s what technology is all about, constant change. Now to figure out how to get Media Player to play the music I copied from my laptop via a flash drive. And need to test the WIFI.

17 more days til takeoff!

I think the netbook is the way to go. Darn Microsoft on not letting you paste!

I had trouble with the copy and paste as well when using Microsoft Exporer. I find if I use Mozilla Firefox it does work. I also have less trouble getting my photos to enlarge if I use the Mozilla browser when composing a post.

Good luck with the techno-changes, Gaelyn. I know you're getting a "little" excited about now!

I used Live Writer for awhile. Getting photos to size correctly gave me some problems. However, you can do it off-line and then send to Blogger automatically.

You must be the only person in creation who reads the manuals Gaelyn!! LOL!! I live by the motto "if all else fails, read the instructions". LOL!!

Yes, time is getting short now and before you know it you will be on that plane. What a fantastic thing to look forward to!!

Hi, Gaelyn! First trip off the continent, eh?? Well, you really are leaving the continent, going all the way to South Africa! What fun! If somehow you get stranded in Belgrade, let me know; one never knows with the airlines these days... :)

Are you referring to your ASUS? I have Linux on mine and I can cut and paste from sites, open and keep Word files, etc. Keep trying!

I've been composing posts right on the blogger page without a word processor. But I've heard such good things about Live Writer, I'm going to try it.

Gaelyn: Work out all the kinks before the trip, I'm not going to be connected during my trip.

I bow to you for reading the manual. I used to do that, but never anymore. That really is quite an undertaking.

(I need to see what "takeoff" is, too!

From this angle, it looks like they are just trying to make billions of dollars of more money. Some programs are actually worse and more dumbed down than they were 10 years ago.
