Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

MWT - More Weaver Mountains

I guess you’ll be seeing a bit more of the Weaver Mountains because they are in my back yard. (Scroll down two posts for my New Year's Day walk.)

Balancing rock
How wonderful to walk under a clear blue sky in the high desert, about 50F with barely a breeze in the late afternoon.

Lichen on granite
My heart is set free and my mind wanders over the land further than my feet will tread this day.

Vulture Mts about 60 miles in the distance
I could live here enjoying the view over morning coffee.

Cholla
Need to get up there in the morning to see the light. Yet at 25F as the sun rises I don’t think that will happen soon.

Land four sale
I really don’t want to see this land developed but with the current housing crunch I don’t think they’ll be selling soon. These 4-9 acre properties are listed from $65,000 to 175,000. Utilities have been brought in along the access roads.

Some of the many curves of Highway 89, left to Yarnell and right to Congress
If I was building, my house would not be within sight of any roads or neighbors.

To see more of the world, or to share some of your own, visit My World Tuesday by clicking here.

You really do have one special backyard. I have seen the country around Tucson and also around the white mountains at Show Low. Loved that area then (1952)-- smelled like spruce trees everywhere.

I am somewhat better and was able to sleep in my bed last night without coughing my head off. Went to the doctor this morning. She thinks I am doing better and wants me to come back in a week.

Going back to Arizona last year after several years' absence I was stunned by the development north and west of Sun City, where my in-laws lived. Stunned. Deserts I used to hike are now subdivisions. 4 lane roads blaze across dry river beds. No wonder the saguaros are all dying off - they're choking to death. Wait, sorry, I REALLY wanted to tell you how lovely your photos are! Hopefully the development will be put off for a bit longer. Enjoy while you can and share with us!

When we lived in the San Fernado Valley in the 70s I could walk up into the hills after taking the boys to school. Now the hills have been graded, the fire roads replaced with paved roads and there are houses where one the chaparral reigned.

Terrific photos as always, Gaelyn! I hope you get to keep your beautiful views for a long time!

Have a great week!

I am in awe of the pic of the balancing rock. It is nice to see that there are still places left with a little breathing room.

What a wonderful place to explore with awesome views, rocks, plants, etc. Gorgeous pictures, my favorite is the last one with the roads.

These are all wonderful sites and so is your New Year walk there. How lucky to have that as your backyard. I hope it doesn't get developed in a way that detracts from the beauty. I wish more places could stay wild.

This is a beautiful area to take a walk! I think it will be some time before developments take off again. So I think you will have this lovely place to visit for a while. Thanks for the pictures, its so much fun to see a different area!

Sounds like Heaven! Right ow I'm happy here in Canada but around March I'll be tired of the snow and dying to be there with you. :)

Now I'm off to Google Weaver Mountains.

Gaelyn: What a neat look at your wonderful mountains. I'm glad no one messes with the balancing rock.

I agree with you about roads and neighbors! I hope they don't sell that land soon. It is such a shame when the developers move in and start ruining the landscape. You have a great place to live! I love the balancing rocks (and in the earlier post) the kissing rocks! Really wonderful!

Oh 50 degrees sounds heavenly, thanks for the walk! I hope it doesn't get developed too, but that's "progress."

Your backyard is awesome. And the lichen shows its healthy. Too bad that material expansion is blazing its way into your open spaces Gaelyn. I hope those who eventually build will be kind to the land.

Its always hard to believe that developers would distroy such a prestine area just to make money. I would like to join you for coffee out there with that view in the morning.

Oh yes. The old passes that I'm going to post about are both dirt road passes, but can be done in a sedan. They're not the main roads though so you can cross the mountains on the new passes as well.

Love yur backyard Gaelyn.
I'm with you about roads and neighbours. That is why we have a little valley all to ourselves.

Gaelyn, What a beautiful area right outside your door! I love how you say, "My heart is set free and my mind wanders over the land further than my feet will tread this day." I often feel that way, too.

What beautiful scenes and I hope they last...but,...don't we need more houses that don't see? Your photos are superb as always.

I love your gorgeous photos. We recently moved to Surprise from Wickenburg and had a view of Vulture Peak from our living room window. Our move was necessary but it doesn't alleviate my hunger for the scenery. Thanks for sharing and bringing a piece of home to me via the internet. I have been where you are many times and love every piece except the drive up the hill. Happy New Year,

Carolyn Augustine
