On the way to Laughlin, Nevada--not to gamble--ambled along a Colorado River frontage road just north of Bullhead City, Arizona and remembered to look away from the river for a panoramic view of the Black Mountains and sky above. (Post coming soon about this journey.)

When we were trucking, we went thru this area every chance we go. Even spent the 4th of July on one of their "Champagne" cruises and watched the fireworks from the middle of the river.
The first time I saw this part of the country..I felt like I had come home..I do have some Indian ancestry but thought it was from the NE...maybe I inherited some long distant memories. The countryside there is so different from anything I would have seen E of the Mississippi.
What a gorgeous, peaceful view!! Terrific capture for the day, Gaelyn! You do find great ones! Hope you have a great weekend!

Heading to Nevada in two weeks. Maybe we will pass. Our final destination is Reno with my daughter and Incline Village with my son.

The word verification has become very time consuming and a pain.
That is amazing, it looks like a huge painting. Diane

That panoramic shot is like a painting. Thick clouds, love it!
I don't know if you visited Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo just off the Garden Route on your visit, but the mountains at the town is called the Swartberg which translate to Black Mountains.
Lovely capture! Happy sky watching.
