I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Thank you for stopping by. Just to let you know, I'm still blogging but have moved to Geogypsytraveler. Hope you'll follow my adventures. Just click here.
Geez...I'm just amazed at how many people get out of their cars and mosey up to a moose, elk, buffalo or whatever for an up close and personal camera shot. Those legs and hooves on those guys can pack a lethal wallop not to mention what buffalo can do. Tourists!!
You won't find me that close to an elk! Yikes! I was directing traffic at an elk jam a couple of years ago and was caught between 2 bulls that weren't too happy with each other. I went to the nearest car and asked them to unlock the back door in case I needed to dive in!
I think that the touron with the camera was more than a little stupid to be so close to the elk, and left his common sense at home when he packed for his vacation.
The touron obviously does not know how to use the zoom function on his camera.
That guy is crazy. I almost said brave but I think crazy is a better description. But at the same time, I'll bet he got some seriously good pictures!!!
When we visit some of our national parks you have lions, elephants and other big animals cross the road between cars like this. You must have seen that in Kruger and Addo.
gorgeous creatures but as is so often the case - such little respect from the human species! We just catch odd little glimpses of roe deer around here, tiny in comparison!
Love the sky in that first shot. I'd have stayed in my car and used a zoom for the elk. I saw a horrible sequence on Discovery Channel's "I Shouldn't Be Alive" about a woman who got out of her car and up close to a buffalo....can you imagine? I'll bet it's on Youtube...
Growing up in Wyoming, we learn early to give wild animals a very wide berth. I was mortified the other day to find videos on youtube of people visiting a grizzly bear sanctuary and squeeing over how friendly and nice the "waving" bears were. *ahem* I'm not kidding. Luckily, none of the videographers got out of their vehicles to say hi.
The elk didn't seem concerned about the tourists, but the close tourist should have been a bit more concerned about his own well being and that of the elk!

Goodness that looks like a crowd at a National Park in S.A. looking at lion! Lovely photos though of and animal I have never seen. Diane
I still think you have the coolest job in the world... nothing like being up close with nature each and every day!

Crazy close. Hope he doesnt have to learn the hard way.
That's way too close for my comfort. He has nowhere to hide.
the cow elk was acting like it owns the road, beautiful shot though

Thanks for these beautiful views of the Grand Canyon in winter, Gaelyn!
I agree with you ... the visitor is a little too close. Big critters!!! Magnificent!
These pics are fabulous!

I agree, he is too close, and very lucky that he is not harmed, in any way.
High or low, I still see beauty in the Grand Canyon.
Digital cameras make many people do foolish things. I do like your photos though (taken from a safe distance I am sure)

What part of trampled doesn't he understand?
The sky in that first shot - gasp! Silvery and wonderful. Yeah, that guy is way to close to the elk. My husband would say "evolution at work." LOL!
hey gaely,, your photos are always worth the look.
i really enjoyed my visit here.
oh my gosh, he's too close... he could have been harmed, poor thing!
gorgeous photos as usual.
