Turkey vultures are masters at soaring flight. Along a lonely western Texas highway I saw a venue of turkey vultures kettling over some road kill. Their keen sense of smell draws them in to the carrion.
Further down the road a whole other look at feathers in the sky.

A group of vultures is called a venue and the circling in the sky is kettling.

Those clouds are amazing. Diane
A beautiful sky, another plus for Texas (in addition to the birds). The spring wildflowers can be lovely but I think I will forever be influenced by my first view of Texas, a drive across the state in August.
Stunning skies!!
Catching up with you Gaelyn. Safe trip back! I see you have Oscar along for company.
WOW. Amazing cloud formations!

Hi Gaelyn, nice clouds, as I always associate Texas with.
Been there only once, and I hope to visit again.
Gorgeous photos, Gaelyn! The clouds are beautiful in the second shot and of course I love the bird shot. Have a great weekend!
gorgeous cloud photo.
I have been told that Turkey Vultures are known as the bird of peace because they do not kill for food.
I learned some new words! Turkey vultures are magnificent flying. Amazing, beautiful clouds!
Very clever Gaelyn!
It seems like driving through places like Texas you really get to see miles and miles of nothing.
