Resaca de los Fresnos
Yes, I’m still in Texas, but the countdown is on.
Franklin’s Gull
I’m spending my days at Mom’s getting ready for her move to Arizona. The logistics are taken care of. We have a week and a half to pack. At the current pace of 1.5 boxes a day I hope we make it. It’s not easy to part with any of our treasured life collections, and everything has a story.
About 6:00 every evening I’ve been trying to take a walk along the nearby resaca to cool my body in the wind and clear my mind.
Red-crowned Parrots
Seems some resacas were former channels of the Rio Grande river used for flood control. The Resaca de los Fresnos in San Benito was developed for irrigation purposes.

This is a wonderful series of photographs. I enjoyed them all. Always hard to part with things, we're in the process right now and like you say, every item seems to have a story or some kind of sentimental value.
A nice place to walk in the evening to cool down and get your head on straight is a wonderful thing.
So nice that you have a pleasant place to unwind after a hard days work.
One more week in your beautiful Arizona country, I can see why you love it. Drove right by the road to north rim but alas, it is too early.
What a wonderful series of pics... The bird shots are lovely and the place seems very beautiful...
Have a lovely day:)
Moving is so difficult. I left many things behind in S. Africa which I would have loved to have kept, and now again I am trying to cut back with the move to France. As you say most things bring back so many memories and stories that you just cannot part with them. Diane
Like the wide variety of birds. Hang in there...just over a week to go.
Good to get a little relaxation after a day of box packing. It must be so difficult to sort through a lifetime of things. I'm actually trying to do some decluttering myself - getting rid of things in our storage spaces so my kids won't eventually have to do it.
Take lots of pictures of all of the things. That way you can go back and look at them and reminisce without having to move all the stuff from place to place.
That looks like a lovely place to go for a walk and wind down after a long day.
Birds in the big blue sky give me an exciting feeling. Great series of shots.
Wonderful shots of the birds. I love it.
I hope you can clear your mind and keep the stress and sanity levels down.
It is tough but will be done soon. MB
It is very hard to go through all the many things that have collected over the years and decide what to keep and what has to go. The good part is that you are there and are able to share the memories with your mom. In the long run though the important part is that your mom will be closer and you will be able to see her more often. As an adult I always lived a long ways from my family and I wish we could have had more time to share.
What a wonderful place!
It is hard for most people to decide what they can let go of. I found out recently with an enforced stay in a hotel for four months after a fire, and with a hasty move to the senior's residence for mom due to her ill health, that there really is very little that we need to take with us. Our memories by and large are in our hearts and minds. Even with photos and mementos we seldom look at them. Having said this, I know it will still be difficult for your mom. You are a good daughter for being there to help her. I know how hard that can be.
Glad you're making some progress toward the move. Your bird-watching path looks like a nice place to relax.
wonderful series of bird photos!
and that place looks so beautiful.
