Ch ch ch changes….

So far, 2011 has been a year of changes.

Changed housing by buying the new (to me) 5th-wheel.

A week ago, seven days, I made another change. I Quit smoking after 40 years. NOT easy. But I AM smart enough to know better. I have friends suffering from this addiction whether they still smoke or not. [GIVE ME A CIG!!!!!] NO, just kidding. It gets better every day as I breath clearer, cough less yet still crave. I’m told that craving may never go away.

And because of this healthy change I treated myself and bought my Very first cell phone, a droidx. It’s Sooo much smarter than I am. It actually works in my home, even to surf the web. Plus, it’s a mobile hot spot. No more dialup. I’ll give it a day before I tell Qwest what to do with their phone and dialup service.

After five years of dealing with dialup in Yarnell, I’m finally free to fly.

Well done, Gaelyn! Whoo-hoo. Well done again, you go girl! And what a treat for the healthy change: I've never heard of this cell phone and it certainly sounds smart. Good on you - now you have cleaner lungs (within 20 minutes of giving up, the improvement starts and only gets better) AND faster Internet. Wow, I am SO proud of you. Bless you my friend. (((hugs))) Jo

Well done Gaelyn, keep it up. I stopped about 25 years ago after having smoked for about 20 years. I now cannot stand the smell of cigarettes and hate it if anyone smokes near me. Sure that you will very soon feel the benefits. Diane

Way to go, Gaelyn!! I gave up the habit about 10 years and wish I would have done it sooner. You'll join the ranks of ex-smokers who think there is nothing worse than the smell of a cigarette.

Just don't make me give up chocolate yet. :)

Oh, I may be checking back with you in a few weeks on how that phone is going. I'm looking at a Droid X myself.

What a great thing it is to quit smoking. The cravings will lessen over time. I quit back in 1985 and have no cravings at all now. Hang in there, it will get easier with every day you succeed. Love to follow your adventures and enjoy your blog.

Yeah to no smoking!

I have been following your blog for a while...love it. We are in love with national park vacations, but unfortunately live in Illinois. I have tried to get jobs with the NPS on occasion, but no such luck. We figure to keep working hard, and then one day, it will happen.

Saw you asked about Big Bend on another blog. It was terrific. We especially liked the mountains and floating the Santa Elena canyon...

Good for you Gaelyn. You are so fit and active and stopping smoking will make you even healthier. Are you going cold turkey or using a patch? (Now you are accountable to all your readers who are cheering you on!)

I never knew you smoked. I probably just assumed that one working out in nature wouldn't smoke. Oh well, just show never to assume. WELL DONE ON QUITTING!!! I am sure all you blog friends are here for support to help you enjoy your more healthy lifestyle. Also congrats on the new cell phone. May it bring you lots of joy and super fast surfing.

Congratulations! I was just thinking about smokers today. During break, I walked out the front doors to fill my lungs with fresh air, as I gratefully basked in sunlight for a few seconds. As I appreciated this, I chuckled, thinking about the smoker's version. I hope you can find the same joy in not smoking that I do.

Congratulations! I know quitting smoking is a really hard process, especially after one has been smoking for a long time. I wish you the best of luck in not relapsing, and good luck with the new phone!
