SWF – Lucky rainbow
This rainbow seen near Hoedspruit the day before entering Kruger National Park brought the luck of seeing the Big 5 on our first day in the park.

Hiking the Drakensburgs
Sunrise over the Drakensburgs
Except for the rain these mountains, the highest in Africa, could capture my heart forever with their magic.
John on the trail
Fortunately Jo from Memorable Meanders introduced me to her son John who guided me on a 30k hike into this beauty.
Sunlizards at Breakfast Stream
Stopping along the way to take pics of the flowers, bugs (remember I've been traveling with Joan), lizards and exceptional scenery.
Eye of the Needle
We experienced the most amazing storm about 1k from camp. Had to stop walking, cover packs and with backs to the hard rain just absorb the energy as thunder and lightning tore the skies above.
Although I was tired and foot sore at the end of each day this hike was SO worth it.
Spires above camp
Lost my camera to the ocean waves in Durban so replaced it with a Fuji with 12x zoom. Good thing I only lost a few photos.

I’m currently in Escort. Joan has abandoned left me to head home. I will miss her company immensely. Now I’ve rented a car and have to remember to drive on the left. Wish me luck. Hope to post again soon.
