All four seasons showed face on the North Rim. Starting with a balmy morning under intermittent sunshine. By noon the temperature dropped and it hailed briefly.
Then it snowed and turned to sleet and rain with loud thunder.
Yet the sky above the North Rim cleared before sunset with clouds hovering over the South Rim which later blew across the canyon and blocked the night sky for telescope viewing on the last night of the Star Party.
Last night special speaker Don Palac from NASA talked about “Living and working in space” while sharing some humorous images of astronauts going about daily life. Imagine eating out of tubes so your food doesn’t float away as you hover over the table, being velcroed to a wall in your sleeping bag over night or peeing into……. I just can’t go there.

Wow! Great post... From raining on the rim, to peeing in zero gravity!
Leave it up to you baby to come up with that! :) LOL!!!
Amazing photos as always, it amazes me how weather can change so quickly.
I would quite like to experience the floating experience of space but just an hour would be enough!! Diane
Yep - same as my weather, Gaelyn. Love your moody shots. We got 3-4" of wet snow overnight with some bent and broken aspens in our yard.
We too have had some crabby weather as I call it.. Peeing into....easier for guys than girls....
Oh Gaelyn I would have loved to be there for that talk.I've always said I would not hesitate to go into space given the chance...alien or otherwise!!
What wild weather and great captures of it. It must be a common theme around the continent right now as we had sun, rain, hail, thunder, sun, hail all within an hour yesterday and it continues today!
Stay safe and have a great week.
Smiles
Gaelyn: You said you were still having some bad weather. You have to be ready for a real Spring.
Weather in the high country is unpredictable but this year seems to have us on a roller-coaster. The nice thing about stormy weather is it is usually followed by clear blue skies.
We must have been part of the same system--cold and rainy all weekend long with lots of fog. I thought I was in the northwest again for a minute. I'd love to venture into space and see the earth as a blue sphere in the vast darkness!
What a fascinating talk it sounds like.
Now are you sure the GC ain't in Okieland with that weather?!
Got to agree with you Mike. LOL!!
Wow...fog...I wonder how many people have fallen into the canyon for not having seen it in the fog. ;)
I guess your Go-Girl wouldn't be too much help in space, ha.
I guess it works. The Canyon is pretty old. I think our weather is trying out for the Rain Olympics.
Weather--go figure. As always, if you want different weather just wait and you'll get it.
Saturday was hot and sunny not a cloud in the sky---Sunday was 10 degrees cooler and overcast all day. Hmmmmmm.....MB
I don't get it. You basically live in a desert and it summer over there, but you still get the occational snow. Its a strange world.
I love misty photos like these. You are having all the weather all at once. It looks colder there than it is here!
What an interesting day you had Gaelyn!
