Soft light on Vermilion Cliffs

01 Mike, Vermilion Cliffs & House Rock Valley Hwy 89A overlook Kaibab NF AZ (1024x768)

When Mike and I drove up to the North Rim last week we stopped at an overlook along Highway 89A to look back down on House Rock Valley and the Vermilion Cliffs.

The late evening light created a marvelous pastel view.

Gosh that is marvelous. It looks like pastels to me like those an artist uses. Wow. What a place to be spoiled by a road.

The soft colors are amazing. They look like pastels that have been blended with a cloth.

What a classical set of photos. I will never visit this place and it is wonderful to see it virtually!

It was a beautiful view, even better in person... The view I had was more beautiful than what was behind me!

Wow...that second shot is truly amazing...reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe background...no need for a flower here, though.

I love that stretch of road.. always awe-inspiring, especially in the early morning.
Love your new header banner shot, too.. that's excellent.
Hope your having a good season up there on the North Rim.. maybe I'll make it up there this year.

That late evening landscape is surreal! That one would look good to try to duplicate in chalk.

Not that Mike isn't an eyeful but I do really like the second picture best. MB

Yeah, that second picture? Makes my tummy feel weird, like I'm falling. It's amazing - such amazing landscapes in the SW.

Nice shot. I'd swear it's not real except I've been on that road, and know such conditions occur out there. Wish I could see it in person this summer!
