No Dove babies this time

I guess we were prepared for this possibility. Young yet mature turtle doves, like many birds, often are not successful with their first eggs.

They actually ate one of the unfertile eggs shell and all.

Then with only two eggs left both Don and Angie spent less time on the nest. After we candled the last eggs Mike removed them.

But guess what, these two love birds seem to be courting again.

Well at least they are now well practiced (lol). What I did not know is that they would actually eat their eggs. I wonder why they do that. Lets hold thumbs for them for the next batch.

(The Word Verification word on this comment is "cilime" - sounds like "silly me" (lol).

Hopefully they'll be successful this time. If they are you will have lots of fun watching the happy event.

Hi Gaelyn, I'm sure they'll be successful this time. Where is this nest? Such a secure and comfortable ledge; and you're surely blessed that you can get so near them. Thanks for the "update" (((Hugs))) Jo
