This was taken last week. The skies have been pretty clear the last few nights so no cloud colors.
However I did try to take a shot of the full moon. Not so good, even with the tripod and set on "night scene", my camera just doesn’t zoom in enough.

Another beautiful sunset. I like the way the light shines on the trees in your moon shot.
Ho hum, another gorgeous sunset,hah!
I think your moon shot looks like a big firefly. And this is said with kindness and respect for your effort, really.
Beautiful sunset. I think your moon shot is very good. Thanks for sharing.
I really like the moon shot. The tree looks amazing.
Beautiful captures, Gaelyn! Love the moon shot! I got one, too, but I got it on the run and it's not the best, but it was fun. With our skies so cloudy for so long I was surprised when it suddenly cleared up!
Have a great weekend!

a lovely capture ms. gaelyn. glad to hear you've got everything all in order in the 5th wheel. should make for a nice winter stay.
have a wonderful weekend.
I love the beautiful golden and dark blue-gray clouds at sunset and your full moon night shot is lovely also.
Still very pretty though. I have never had good luck with the 'night scene' setting. Everything just turns all black. I use auto on everything. I have never used a tripod. are they worth getting one?
Check out todays sunrise on my day4plus blog. MB
Nice colorful shot sunset shot. I would be very happy if I could get as good a moon shot as you.
Love the sunset. I still am struggling with my moon photos as well.
It may not be spectacular but the beautiful blue sky still makes a lovely image with the golden hue of the clouds.
As for the moon shot, if you have a manual setting on your camera try the sunny sixteen rule, f16 and the shutter speed the same as the ISO, and manually focus. It also works best the day before full moon as you can get some natural light on the foreground. This is the theory, I have yet to get an immage I am truely pleased with.
Great moon Gaelyn..I couldn't get one I could post...darn it...
I love your attitude to life and to possessions. I have recently retired completley and I am every so pleased that I have. Now I simply need to give up needing to be in a safe harbour and I will be right.
I have the same trouble shooting the moon as you do: either me or my camera is not good enough. I do like the bleak beauty in your first photograph though.
Nice post The telephoto on my camera just won't do the moon and if I use the zoom without a tripod the photo is just hit or miss
These are fantastic Gaelyn, thanks for sharing.
All the best

Hi Gaelyn, Amazing shot! I've never tried nite photos...
Lovely snaps. The sunset is a nice combination of dark and light. Love the silhouettes.
Gaelyn, your sunset and moon photos are pretty. I have a hard time with moon shots. Mine never look right to me. Nothing like the real thing.
I love digital photography. No waste just fun. Try and try again. You never know what you are going to get. Have a good Friday.
Beautiful sunset! I got a very nice full moon shot a few months ago and haven't been able to get one since...I don't know why. Beginner's luck, I guess...
The sunset is lovely but i like the moos shot with the trees in the foreground.
Hi Gaelyn, I like those ghostly trees! I thought of you when I read Sunday (29th) New York Times - there is an article in the Travel section about hiking to the bottom of the Canyon in winter - see if it's on-line, I think you'd enjoy it.
Gaelyn: Nice try on the moon, you need about 80:1 digitally to get a good shot. Thanks for the tip on the tree on mine, I see it after you said that.
In the first photo it actually looks like there is some rain clouds coming in.
I was absolutely stunned yesterday to see that Joan has dtopped blogging. I was actually sad sitting there in front of the pc. And now she has also deleted all her past posts. I will really miss her and her very interesting pics as well as her comments on my blog. Now I'm sad all over again. Its like a friend telling you they are going away and you will never see them again.
Hi! I like the second shot, especially, even though your moon isn't big; doesn't need to be!
A beautiful sunset. I love the quality of the light.
I'm in serious envy over your lifestyle too. My folks spent a year on the road a few years ago and it seemed like an utterly wonderful way to live, though if I could afford it I might do it on a boat, instead :).
Lovely sunset. It is difficult to get a good shot of the moon. I keep trying but have failed so far.
Night shots are a challenge, especially if you are trying to capture the moon, just because it is so much brighter than everything else, it wants to blow out.
Keep enjoying the essence of those sunsets. They really look like paintings...... or should I say, paintings really look like them. =)
Magnificent shots.
I think we got the same identical moon.

Gaelyn, you have captured the wonder of the night, it does not have to be the perfect shot to capture the wonder.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
You were enjoying the moon, too! Great photos!
Great clouds with such nice shapes. I like the moon too in the dark, dark sky.
I don't think a photo needs a lot of colour to be beautiful. I like your first shot.
As for capturing the moon! Not so easy a task, for sure.
