Sky Watch Friday

Several years ago a forest fire burned just south of Prescott. Because the Ponderosa Pine is very fire resistant some of the trees survived to reseed the next generations. Nothing lives forever, and fire provides a good cleansing.

To see more skies from around the world, or to share your own, go to Sky Watch Friday by clicking here.
I appologise for not reading blogs lately. My computer has been shutting down about every two hours making it very frustrating and difficult to stay online.

We drove through that area the late November after that fire. What a sad sight that was but, the rebirth must be something beautiful to see. I love your photos...the ominous sky is spectacular!

I love that picture. The sky looking so beautiful that time of day and the trees highlighted against the sky. Fire is a good cleanser but as you know a lot of people disapprove of the rangers using that to control pests, etc.

That's an unusual scene with the burnt pines, snow and beautiful lighting in the cloudy sky.

A very cool photo, Gaelyn. I love the tree stand and the clouds are amazing! Merry Christmas, my friend.

Nice sky photo. It's interesting how important fire is for the ecosystem.

Yes, I agree, Gaelyn. The pine beetle is decimating our CO forest - partly because the fires have been so controlled. Living against the National Forest, I fear fires but also realize that they are Nature's way of keeping the forest healthy.

Fire is natures way---as long as it isn't started by a careless person. Going over Stevens Pass last Saturday I saw the remnents of I believe it was the Icicle Creek fire. Still looks bad after all these years.
Super shot--love the clouds and the Pines standing tall. MB

Very surreal photo, Gaelyn. I've been reading an older NG magazine about trees and the ability of some to thrive thanks to fires. Amazing things, trees. Love this post - sorry for your computer woes.

Wonderful steel gray scene. Fire does clean things out.

Here in South Africa the Cape Floral Kingdom (better known as Fynbos) also depends on fire to burn it down for rejuvination to take place. It just doesn't see much snow. LOL.

I'm going to be away on holiday for the next 2 weeks, so I want to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have done forward posts on both my blogs but wouldn't be able to comment for obvious reasons.

Neat pic, though!

Beautiful shot with the sun low and the world in shadow. It feels like it is time to hurry home and get under a blanket.

Those clouds are really lovely. The burnt forest is rather a familiar sight here too. This photo looks like an agate.
