Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Remember Whensday - The car I always wanted

When I was a teenager I always wanted a VW bus, I’d have settled with a bug. But my Dad was a mechanic of “American made” automobiles and would tell me how expensive it would be to get a VW repaired. I did eventually own a VW square-back station wagon. But I still dreamed of having a VW bus.

Well, Berta bought me one for Christmas. Neither of us is capable of keeping a present once we’ve bought it. Ain’t it a beauty! I still have to put a peace sign on the front and take it for a spin. But for now it's parked in the house.

Sally from The (Mis) Adventures of Karl and Sally has started a meme where the past is remembered through sharing old family photographs and this is #27. I love the idea and hope you will too. So join the fun by clicking here.

FUN!!! My first true love actually had a blue VW van very similar to yours, Gaelyn. Not as many windows, and it certainly wasn't as clean - LOL! He had to park on a hill so that he could pop the clutch to start it every morning. Such fond memories! The car I always wanted lives just a few blocks away. I should go immortalize it digitally 'cause I'll never EVER have a '69 Jaguar XKE! EVER!

It is a cute one to be sure.

A local radio personality is refurbishing one with his son. He said the exhaust was leaking in the vehicle, and the heater doesn't work well. It's going to get real cold here tonight, so he will have a tough ride home. He said that when he bought it, the van had a Grateful Dead sticker.

I hope you get your van some day. Any car can be a lot of work, but there's something special about those VW's.

Its kind of a retro vehicle but the wheels are up to date plus it looks like a low rider.

You did well.

Wow, it's beautiful in light blue! For many years I wanted an orange one. Never got one, but I think I'm over it now.

Ok, we have to work on this law of attraction thing. I think you have to be a little more specific to the universe about the size thing.... =)

What a lovely Christmas present!

Many years ago, in a land far, far away, I had a VW bus (mine was red and white) named Maxwell the Magic Bus. We had alot of fun but he sure didn't like pulling up a steep road! Great vehicle!

Aw ... it's lovely. Isn't it odd how an unfulfilled wish always leaves a bit of a hole in the heart ... if only ...
Our first car was a used pale blue VW and we loved it.
