I dig rocks. So when I drove through the little town of Orderville, Utah and saw three rock shops I just had to stop. Rock stores are slowly passing away so I figure they need supporting, kind of like geology.

The Rock Stop holds an old Route 66 type of appeal being shaped like a rock.

I bought a trilobite, a 250-540 million year old fossil.

I really like rocks. What a cool place. Idaho has a Flintstones Park with some of those cars. Republic, Wa. has a dig where you can keep some of the fossil you find, MB

I love rocks too, but I was thinking don't they make your trailer heavier (I assume you have a collection...)
So now I have to find my way to Orderville, too. I love rock shops! My mother in law used to work at one that belongs to her friend. I could lose myself in a rock shop.
Glad to see I am not the only one with rocks in my head. We took a trip a few years ago, with the motorhome and a car trailer. Jim actually build me a "rock box" in the bottom of it. That way we could still load the street rod and they wouldnt be in the way.

Where do you keep your rock collection?
I am a rock fan too and have a collection of small ones including geodes crystals on my bedroom windowsill. My kids say I should throw them out and get a nice ornament. NOT A CHANCE
I think I've stopped in that shop. Moab has a fantastic rock shop, too. I always wonder how many of those fossils are illegally obtained - but that doesn't stop me from wanting to look, and perhaps to purchase a little something.

Many, many years ago I used to collect rock. I must remember to show you some here. You will love them.

I remember when my Mom bought me a small triolbite at our local rock store...I wish I had kept it as a reminder that Mom did do some nice things once in a while...lol...

Rockshops... Not really something we have down here in South Africa. I have a small collection of fossils and would love to discover a shop like that to get a couple more. Even better would be to be able to go somewhere I can discover some for myself/
How interesting! To own a fossil! My uncle was going to be a geologist but was killed in an accident before he qualified. I remember my mum showing me his collection of rocks. I often wonder what happened to them?

MUST have been ancient! I didn't know rock shops were going away. I guess because our summer travels are always in that area, we see one (or more) in every tourist town.
