Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

My World Tuesday - Lone Rock Beach Lake Powell

After leaving Buckskin Gulch I’d planned to hike the 1.5 mile (2.4 km) Toadstool Trail in Grand Staircase Escalante but it was 2pm and too hot to hike with no shade. Another day.

I continued on to Lone Rock Beach at Lake Powell where you drive right onto the beach to camp. It was still hot and also very windy so I parked nose into the wind and made my own shade.

Wahweap Bay is just one little finger of Lake Powell.

RVs, tents & houseboats line the shore for maybe a mile. I’ll bet they’re stacked on top of each other during the summer.

I sat outside working on my evening program, actually trying to remember and rework last year’s program. I’ll post this sometime.

And watching the world watch me.

An ideal place to sit and have a sundowner Gaelyn. How peaceful it looks there but as you say, it is probably packed come weekends in summer.

Love the worn (eroded) crack in the sandstone, a beautiful formation, and what a delightful place to camp!

We have two sleeping bags, a coleman stove, and the camper shell. All we need now is an air mattress and we can go do this. I saw some of Lake Powell last summer. Your pics are wonderful!

Gaelyn - I love reading your posts! I've been to these spots, and I like seeing your photos. For several years in mid-May we went to Lake Powell to get out of the snow. Being close to the water helps in the heat, but hiking those canyons is torture!

Lake Powell is a great place, especially if you can manage to escape the crowds. Beautiful photos! I hope you had a peaceful stay.

Wonderful! As soon as our girls are done with school (one down one to go in about 3 years) the RV life is calling me and Mr Hubby, so now I have to watch your blog carefully, I have been to many of these places but not nearly as many as you and your blog is full of ideas and perspective

You have quite an amazing life. I bust my rear every day to just get by, and never EVER get to travel. My last vacation was decades ago!
