The colors in those rocks are astounding Gaelyn. Love the boots and the view of the river. A PINK rattlesnake?? My goodness, that is a new one for me.

Aren't you brave to sleep on the ground with pink rattlesnakes slithering amuck! Stunning sunset from Plateau Point. Looks like you had a great time.

Great shot of the rattlesnake, a little to close for my taste. That was a gorgeous sunset.

What an amazing hike. I could never do it with my fear of heights, but I can enjoy it all through your posts. Thanks - Margy

That is a beautiful sunset.

The pink rattlesnake gives me the shivers though. I am not a snake fan. I hope you had a good telephoto lens to get that picture. :-)

Gorgeous, all of it. You look like one of the children from the Sound of Music with your braids. Cute!

Oh, thanks for sharing this hiking experience in the Grand Canyon. I've always thought that I would love to do that but I don't think I have the stamina to do it. That pink snake gives me the willies. Oh, how I hate snakes. Can't wait to here more about this adventure tomorrow.

Gaylyn,
These photos brought back fond memories for me - except I didn't nearly step on a rattle snake!

Stunning photos! A pink rattlesnake?!? It really is a beauty although I'm scared of them. I never knew of this type and I am from the land of rattlesnakes (Texas, particularly living in the desert now). I love your hiking style!

Your photos are awesome, Gaelyn. The purple prickly pear, the green Colorado River, and the pink rattlesnake - just beautiful.

Your picture sof Grand Canyon are breathtaking! What a wonderful tour! Must be a great feeling to spend the night on the ground near the river watching the stars! But the rattle snake looks rather dangerous :(

Wow! You are on quite a hike. I spent a few days in Eastern Wa. and came home across the North Cascades and stopped and took a few trails--well my dog and I. I would say we walked, nothing like a hike. LOL MB

Gee you must be fir by now so nothing can phase you. The pink rattler does nt look very appealing, more like a ghostly apparition.

Gaelyn: Wonderful shots of the canyon but that rattler is scarry. It is all coiled and ready to strike.

Great pictures of grand nature. I guess you know what cactuses you can drink from too. It 's a lot of survival things we others don't know about.

I loved all of these photographs. I like how you showed both the wide landscape views and the more intimate close ups.

What a hike...sorry about the hard ground..I would love to do that hike...as long as someone or something else would be carrying the load.
