Daffodils

I grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois where the first spring blooms from memory were daffodils. Their bright sunny faces promised the coming of summer.

Today, Berta brought me daffodils. I look forward to watching them unfold, much like myself coming out of a cocoon from winter.

“...For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.”

By
William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

Our daffodils are out too now. They seem to be minature representatives and ambasodors of the sun trumpeting the arrival of fuller and warmer times ahead.

Chicago. Is it as windy as they say it is? I'm always learning something new about you Gaelyn.

Beautiful picture of daffodil buds in a lovely vase on a mirror. That image would make a great painting. Love that Wordsworth poem too!

Hi Lady, I have daffodils in my kitchen window, the only place the kitty hasn't got to - yet. To me they say "Good morning world", & a promise of better things to come. I so love your bloggs.
