Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Cleaning the Cobwebs from my Mind

Spring cleaning or lightening the load.

I hate housework. Berta calls the dust velvet, and mine is of the thick plushest quality. If I had a better camera I’d show you.

Yet every spring I try to go through all the little corners and boxes and cupboards to remove unneeded stuff. OK, so I never get through it all, but I can always find stuff that need to go.

Planning a yard sale this Friday and/or Saturday. Please come buy some of this stuff.

For me spring cleaning is a time to reflect on goals and intentions. Is anything from the past gathering dust bunnies?

And I’m a list maker. I suppose partly so I don’t forget, yet mostly because it feels good to cross things off my list. Sometimes, I cross things off that I haven’t done because I’ve changed my intentions. And that’s just fine.

Because change is certainly the only constant in my life, from Now, to Now, to Now.....

I think I am going to swap out the cobweb making spiders for the jumping spiders. I'll train them to walk the perimeters of the mind for parasites. That way the dusting part will be a lot easier for me.

Dust=velvet... I like that! I have a very velvety house. I need to add some stuff to your yard sale. I don't need to buy anything, that is for sure.

Sometimes I do something, then put it my list and then I cross it off. That way I get everything done on my list. :-)

I was just telling Jim yesterday that it is time to clear things out--I usually go through all the bins and cubbies, drawers and cabinets before we go on a major trip, just to get rid of the weight.

I know there are things in here that need to go. I'll be doing all that stuff next week.

Oh, and yeah, I am a list maker, too. I can't help myself. I must list.

Its a very good practice to go through our material things and thin out the items that no longer serve us or have meaning. As you said, by allowing these items to move on to new owners we are allowing those intentions to be cleansed from our lives.

And thats great that you just cross things off your list some times when you haven't done them, because you have chosen new intentions. I think this is something that many people fail to do. They decide to go in another direction, but forget to adjust the old intentions to fit.

Happy spring cleaning!

I never do spring cleaning. It seems as if things which have been around for what seems like a 100 years are still around. Oh dear!! I am going to have to do something about them someday!! :)

I had never looked at dust as velvet before. Beautiful analogy! Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't mind seeing dust. We're not very good at getting rid of things, even though it usually feels great to weed stuff out.

We've been having duststorms here and there's no way to keep up with the dusting. I'm a list maker too - it helps!

I've needed to do spring cleaning for years now!

you're smart not to let the "stuff" accumulate year to year. We moved after 10 years in one house, and I had literally truckloads to send to Goodwill. I should have had a giant yard sale.

I like what you wrote about crossing things off your list because your path has changed course. Great point. Personal lists need spring cleaning too I suppose.

We just moved today. There's been a WHOLE LOT of housework involved in that process (and a WHOLE LOT to come). I'm with you on the hating part. Ugh.

I seem to dust daily, in part, due to never getting the whole house done at once.
Where does it all come from ?
You live a beautiful life, one with nature, I wouldn't worry about dust, if I had your life ;)

Sweeping out the cobwebs and the dust and getting rid of all those things which no longer serve us makes our journey so much lighter.
We would all be better for doing the same with our emotions.

Getting everything in your life clean and in order is a good idea. I hope that your yard sale goes well!

I just found you googling for more pictures of Sedona. I bookmarked your blog and plan on having coffee in the morning and reading about your amazing, wonderful, free to travel life.

Wow, you're brave

Just been reading some of your blogs and looking at the wonderful photos.

In one blog you said you were raised in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago!

So was I, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, it always makes me smile to hear someone grew up near where I did
