SWF – Rosy glow over the canyon

DSCF8041b pano (1024x689)

All afternoon and into the evening rain clouds drifted over the South Rim, yet it may not have been raining. Sometimes the air is so dry the rain evaporates before it hits the ground.

I take it that in your part of the world rain clouds are always welcome. They are very welcome here as well and we may just get some this weekend.

A serene sight not unlike our last evening sky. MB

Oh the rain... The only thing that would make that picture any more beautiful would be if you were in it!

Patty, my wife of 55 years, sleeps in a recliner in the family room. There is a large glass door at the end and she said she saw the raccoon looking in at her before he came out to see me.

I think that tells you something about who it liked the most. He saw me twice. LOL

I like your skywatch pictures. Maybe I should enter this time and see what happens. I need some visitors.

I have a weakness for sunsets, with this scenery below it is extra special. Dian

I do so love your pictures, Gaelyn. Nothing could be further from my domestic scene and townie environment. To think you wake up to these spectacular views every day would send me into paroxisms of envy if I did not continually remind myself that you also have mahooosive spiders and other beasties who desire to bite or sting.

You sure get some nice sky views from your perch on the North Rim.

That's actually a little bit scary, rain evaporating before it hits the ground. Beautiful photo, beautiful colors - and I think I may have a picture of that same tree somewhere. :)

I like the way the lines in the sky mimic the lines of the rock. It snowed and hailed here today, Gaelyn!

Nice shot Gaelyn but the one for the new header is fantastic!! The colors in the rock never fai to amaze me and I like the bit for the green trees/bush in front.

Ah, there's nothing so beautiful as the sky over the canyon. Love the pink glow.

I am always amazed at the contrast in textures and colours - greenery, red rock/sand and pink/blue skies.

The elevations from the tops of the escarpments to the valley floor below seem to be quite large. Does the wind not cause upper air thermals as it rises up against the side of the canyon - the warm air meeting cooler upper air should cause condensation and precipitation.

...and then you get virga! Nice shot Gaelyn. You always get the best views!

Gaelyn: Certainly a neat sky over the canyon.

Especially lovely how the rosy strip of sky at the horizon echos the light colored rock layer on the canyon wall.
