Description

I own no land, instead I have wheelestate. I’ve been a full time RVer since 1997. Working summers as a Park Ranger takes me to many beautiful places and playing during the winter takes me to many more. This blog is simply the story of my life's adventures.

Winter returned to Grand Canyon

01 Snow on flowering mahogony along BAP trail NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x756)

Last week on Wednesday it snowed and left about a 4 inch blanket on the North Rim of Grand Canyon.

02 Cloud filled Roaring Springs Canyon NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x767)

Looking into Roaring Springs Canyon

Visitors were surprised wanting to know if this is normal. At 8200 feet we can get snow in June. They were disappointed yet handled it well.

03 Snow on Walhalla plateau above Bright Angel canyon from BAP trail NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x627)

Thursday after the fog lifted out of the canyon the snow melted quickly.

04 Snow on meadow Scenic Rd NR GRCA NP AZ (1024x768)

A patchwork remained by Friday when I went out to rove at overlooks on the scenic drive. I dressed warm and felt chilled by the end of the day suffering from a head cold ever since.

05 View E of Saddle Mt & Marble Plateau from Point Imperial Scenic Rd NR GRCA NP AZ 1of2 (1024x704)

Yet I looked beyond the canyon to the Marble Plateau  knowing it would be warm there sooner than the Kaibab Plateau. And that’s where Mike and I will be tomorrow on the return route from grocery shopping in Page via the Grand Staircase Escalante. Going to be in the 80s there so I can leave behind the long johns I’ve been wearing for a week.

MWT - Home Sweet Home at Grand Canyon

01 RV Challenger NR GRCA NP AZ

I never thought I’d get here, but here I am for the fourth summer in a row. Better late than never.

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park opened Sunday, May 15th right on schedule. Boy were we busy!

02 View S from BAP trail NR GRCA NP AZ

I worked some at the Visitor Center, roved along the Bright Angel Point trail chatting with visitors, and studied my programs to jog the lazy gray matter. Wonderful to access information thought forgotten.

03 Flowering Mahogany bush along BAP trail NR GRCA NP AZ

Flowering Mahogany

It just doesn’t get any better than this.

And finally Qwest got me hooked up to the DSL I just knew was here. Yippee, I’m back on line! Will catch up with every body soon.
